I do not know what exactly you are installing-but it is entirely possible
that whatever it is *may* utilize some functionality that Windows XP Home
Edition does not have. It is best to go buy the manufacturer's
recommendations (although they may not be 100% accurate.)

The two versions operate on the same code. The Pro version has
additional features, but nothing you couldn't get from freeware.
Unlike most other OSes, you may run into Microsoft validation issues.
If you have extra money, why not spend it on something you need or can
use? A wireless mouse or more memory, perhaps?
Oracle uses a lot of security and the Home version lacks some of that.
However, you may still be able to create/run a database without the
Pro version. Ask Oracle technical support--they are usually very
good. Oracle is a monster!
