I am an administrator but I am unable to perform a system
restore. When I select restore all seems well and I see
on the screen files being copied. however after the PC
auto reboots I am presented with the restore screen
telling me it was unable to restore this point and no
changes have been made to my PC, please select another
restore point. I have tried several of my own restore
points and also several sysyem restore points/dates -
HELP.

If Restore gets in this sort of tangle, it is best to clean it out and
start over. Possible reason may be that there is too much space being
allotted by its default of 12% on a very large partition; others at the
troubleshooter at http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;302796.
There is also a specific cause associated with 'Highpoint' drivers at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;322246

System Restore. Check 'Disable System Restore', and OK, reboot. Now
have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide
Protected mode ones and delete everything in the System Volume
Information folder on each drive

Start SR up again, and I suggest reviewing the settings for each drive.
There is not much point having it enabled on data drives, and on ones
with System or Programs I would reduce the space allotted if more than
say 1GB - I use 500MB, the minimum is 200 which will only handle maybe a
week of points.
