Can some give me info on how to replace XP Professional with XP Home Edition?
Can I just load XP Home Editon over Xp Professional???
Going from XP Pro to XP Home is considered a downgrade, and as such it
is not supported.
If you previously upgraded from Home to Pro then there might be an
entry in Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs which would allow you to
uninstall Pro and revert to Home.
But otherwise the only option is to format the hard drive, or at least
the partition that Windows XP Pro is installed on, and then install a
clean copy of XP Home, followed by reinstalling all of the application
programs and restoring the data files from backups. The Files and
Settings Transfer Wizard in Windows XP that may be of some assistance
with the data files and configuration settings.
While there are circumstances where this type of move might be
warranted, such as to free up the XP Pro license so it can be used on
another machine where the Pro features or functions are needed, I
still wonder why you would want to do this.
There is no difference in performance or stability between Home and
Pro, and every feature or function in XP Home is also found in XP Pro.
The differences between the two versions are confined to certain
specific features or functions which are unique to XP Pro and which
are not found in XP Home.
Hope this answers your question.
Good luck
