Hi,
Chkdsk can scan for bad sectors when you use the /r switch. It's main use is
for checking the integrity of the file system. There is a section on what

Oh, and it's far more reliable than the auto-correct (or more accurately:
autodestruct) facility in scandisk. For really checking out a hard drive,
you should use a drive diagnostic tool from the manufacturer. Be careful
with these utilities, as some of the test will wipe out any existing data.
The rule of them here is to read the instructions, then read them again
before employing them.
