XP home - can't get rid of old shared folders in My Computer

I have about 4 computers on my network. I change the shared folders
frequently. I find that in My Computer or Win Explorer the lists of "shares"
does not update. It will even show folders that belong to computers not
turned on. I never had this problem in Win98 and I hear it is not a problem
in XP Pro.
What I have to do to access "current" shares is go into Network
Neighbourhood, My Network Places; Entire Network; Name of Workgroup from
those displayed; Name of computer; then the folder/file. It is very
cimbersome. Is there a workaround in XP Home?

Windows XP Home and Pro work the same. They don't automatically
remove shared folders from My Network Places when the folders are no
longer available. You can right-click and delete any obsolete folders
manually.

To see all of the shared folders on a computer directly, regardless of
what workgroup the computer is in, type the computer's name in the
Start | Run box in this format:

\\computer

thank you...I'll try that approach...it seems to me that Win98 was much
better in this regard.
