XP Home and NTVDM.EXE excess CPU usage

HI Guys,

Got a XP Home machine running a DOS based POS system, and
when its sitting there doing nothing, ntvdm.exe is
running at 99%, essentially killing the machine. In fact
it keeps overheating the machine and making it shut down.
Any hints?

Have you tried changing the idle sensitivity in the programs properties?
