Generally no, but I have seen it go bad. If you computer blue screens on
startup. Boot from XP CD reinstall over top of Windows (doing repair
option, not recovery console). That generally will get you back up and
running.
You should then insall your new MB specific chipset drivers.
Unless what you're replacing with it is identical to what you
had, almost certainly you'll need to do at least a repair
