XP Glitch

Hi, On both my upstairs and downstairs computers, every
now and again the mouse locks up strangely, every time I
move it it flicks to the start menu and opens it, and as
I try to move the mouse away from the menu it opens
something in it or clicks something on the desktop and
flicks back to the start menu again. I can't imagine what
the problem is, and since my downstairs and upstairs pcs
are not networked, but separately linked to the internet,
it can't really be a virus. AGV doesnt help. The mouse
lock lasts for any amount of time from two seconds to
twenty, and there is no warning or common action I am
performing to queue the problem.
Can you help? I can't imagine whats causing this.

Check out mouse properties in Control Panel.. make sure that 'snap to' (MS)
or 'smart move' (Logitech) is not checked.. check out other settings too
while you are there..
