XP "Forgets Joystick and Digital Camera

Everytime I log off and restart I have to reinstall my joystick software. Also when I plug in my digital camera to download the photos off of it I get a message that says it can't locate it. Then after 5 minutes or so it finds it and the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer comes up and I can then download all of the pics into a folder, that works great! But I never know how long it will take to connect to the camera....Thanks for the help!

Usually it's because you have told the PC to turn off the USB ports to save
power (default setting).

Go into the Device Manager, find the entries for the USB Controllers and
click on each one in turn (one for each USB port on the PC so you could have
lots).... in the Power Management tab, uncheck the box for turning them off
to save power.

If the box is already unchecked, it's normally an insufficient PSU in your
PC (Power Supply Unit). You have to live with the problem or get a PSU of
higher wattage.
