XP Firewall - pre-SP2 - not staying activated

Hello everyone,

I regularly activate my XP firewall. However, I frequently find the firewall option (control panel > network connections > properties > advanced) is unchecked. I'd like to keep it checked. Any ideas on how I can correct this?

Digging through some other posts I may have found my answer. I had a vestigial MacAfee installation on my system, even though I had turned it off and have since switched to Norton for security. I removed the old MacAfee and now everything seems fine -- temporarily at least.
