I am running XP Pro on a Dell Dimension and have been trying to install a new
piece of software. I get an error message telling me "that it cant find a
file in the operating system. I believe that a couple files may have been
deleted or have become corrupt. I know that I can run repair with the xp cd
to re install missing files without losing anything else. I was just wanted
to know the best route for trying to re install missing or corrupt files
using the xp cd. Thanks.

Hi

Try typing the following from Start>Run

sfc /scannow

You will need to have your XP CD to hand.
