XP File Print sharing thwarted by Guest Account??

I have a 5 computers on my home network 2 running W2K, 3 XP Pro. My
problem is for whatever reason I can no longer access my shared files
and printers. Every time I attempt a connection I get an authentication
window asking me to authenticate the guest user on the sharing PC? I
have tried many fixes and none have worked. The issue started with my
Wife's new laptop running XP Home after much troubleshooting and hours
on the phone with tech support it was decided to reinstall windows (Big
Surprise Huh?) so anyway instead of reloading XP Home I decided to load
Pro thinking that maybe Pro and Home were not communicating correctly
and I preferred XP Pro anyway. So I went through all that got it up and
running, tried to access the share and Big Surprise that stinkin guest
window pops up again not allowing me access to my shares. What am I
missing here?? I tried the run line to make the guest account active I
have disabled firewalls. I have even made registry changes, nothing is
working? Can anyone help me understand what is going on?

Thanks

Windows 2000, and Windows XP Pro, will use either the Guest account, or a
non-Guest account, for access. Choose which you want to use - Guest or
non-Guest, and setup properly activated accounts, with synchronised passwords,
on each computer. My article should explain everything.
