XP file access via unc

I recieved a call today from our Atlanta office regarding
an XP machine that can not connect to a web published
database via the unc name. The computer can ping the
server via IP address but not ping by computer name. I
verified the workgroup name and they match, however, can
not view workgroup via My Network Places. I changed
workgroups and readded the appropriate workgroup, reboot,
etc. to no avail. All other computers in the office can
connect to the database via unc. Oh, also, this computer
can surf the web with no problem.

Any ideas?

Can you check whether NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled?

Control Panel -> Network Connections folder
Right click on Local Area Connection, select Properties
Highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP") and click on Properties
Click on Advanced
Select the WINS tab
- If the current setting is "Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP", then check the
"Default" setting and OK out
- If the current setting is "Default", please type "ipconfig /all" on a
command prompt and send us the output. Then check "Enable NetBIOS over
TCP/IP and OK out.
- If the current setting is "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, please send us the
output of "ipconfig /all"

Thanks
Arvind
