XP fails to boot

Hi, my system fails to boot about half the time these
days. This is what I find in the error log:

ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI
Operation Region (0x4), Please contact your system vendor
for technical assistance.

followed by:

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed
to load: va16w2

and sometimes by:

Time Provider NtpClient: An error occurred during DNS
lookup of the manually configured
peer 'time.windows.com,0x1'. NtpClient will try the DNS
lookup again in 15 minutes. The error was: A socket
operation was attempted to an unreachable host.
(0x80072751)

I was getting a STOP error but rolled the system back to
before most recent softward added, and that seems to have
resolved. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I had a similar problem after changing from ME to XP Pro. A new BIOS sorted me out. I have not had an error since. Paste the ACPI error log into Google and see what it brings up.
