XP Drive error

John Ulrich

I have saved some files produced on Windows 98 and ME
operating systems on 3 1/2" floppy disks. When I try to
load them on a XP operating system I get the message "The
disk is not formatted. Do I you want to format it now." I
double checked and the files are there just not readable
on the XP machine. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Floppy drives have a good chance of getting misaligned. Try them on a
different computer, and see if you can burn them onto a CD, or connect the
two computers with a network or parallel cable for data transfer, and read
the files that way.
