my friends tried to install SP2 on windows xp home edition (french version).
Because the installation was taking time she decided to force the computer to
shut down. That is in the middle of SP2 installation.
Now when she turns on the laptop tries to start xp (she sees Windows Xp
......) but never starts and after few seconds the laptops restarts!! and it
keep on looping ...

Can any one help ?

I already tried last known good configuration but does not work. It does not
sart on safe mode either!

Can one use an english version of home edition to repair french version of
xp ?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi Selam,

Try running System Restore from Safe Mode.

1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to
start your computer in Safe Mode or Safe Mode with a command prompt.
2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account
that has administrator credentials.
3. In Safe Mode type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box
then press Enter. In Safe Mode Command Prompt type the following command then
press ENTER.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer
to an earlier state, or undo the last restore if available.

Hello everyone,

I have a similar problem, except that mine does start in Safe Mode. I am in
Safe Mode right now. When I try System Restore though, I can't get enywhere.
It says "There are currently no restore points available". How can I get my
computer back to running in normal mode. If I don't choose Safe Mode
initially, it just keeps turning on and off.

Thank you for your help.
