XP Damaging Diskettes

If I copy a file using "Send To" from the Windows
Explorer Pop-up, the disk becomes unreadable and
unformattable.

Two weeks ago, I bought brand new, pre-formatted
diskettes. I used Win2K machine to copy files onto disk,
and was able to copy from disk to WinXP machine.
Yesterday, I copied a file from WinXP to disk by right-
click on file in Windows Explorer and selecting "Send
To". When I tried to copy the file from the disk to the
Win2K machine, I got a message that the disk was not
formatted. Put disk back into WinXP machine and got same
message. When I tried to format the disk, got message
that the disk was damaged.

Same thing happened several times last summer with Win
2003 Server.

For what it's worth, I think floppies are being made a lot less sturdy these
days. Out of a box of disks, I'll get some that never work, some that work
maybe 4 or 5 times before they fail, and others that seem to last quite a
while. It's not any one computer the kills them, either.

Needless to say, I'm not using them for important storage, mostly just to
make boot disks or other utility disks for customer's computers.
