XP crashing on FF of AVI playback

My PC reboots whenever I fast forward on the playback of an AVI in either
Zoomplayer or BSplayer anyone have an idea why? If this were one
application I'd blame that but as it's in two different pieced of software I
tend to think it's XP.

This happens usually when the application is first run and the file dragged
and dropped to the player. Anyone seen this and can suggest a fix?

Maybe it's the actual players, why not just use the
Windows media player???
I have never heard of this before, very weird.

Have you tried watching the films in media player &
seeing if the same problems occur?
