My Compaq Evo n800c notebook crashed last night whilst I was word processing,
bringing up the following information on the blue error screen:
****************************************************
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0X000000D1 (0X0DF6A445, 0X00000002, 0X00000001, 0XEBE5E0B1)
*** bcmwl5.sys – Address EBE5E0B1 base at EBE4C000, DateStamp 3f21a6cd
*****************************************************
When I reboot, I can’t start Windows in any mode as it tells me that the
System32\Drivers\pci.sys file is missing/corrupt (on one occasion I believe
it may have also mentioned the System32\Drivers\isapnp.sys)
It recommends to try and repair with my system restore disk, though that
doesn’t work either as when I boot up with the system restore, I get a ‘disk
I/O error’. It is not the disk as I have a copy of my system restore disk
supplied by HP and it gives the same error.
I also have Knoppix (Linux) on a CD that I can run in case Windows crashes,
though my Knoppix won’t even boot up, doing random thinks like blank screens
to flashing messages such as ‘kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!’
I am extremely bust at the moment, working around the clock to try and get
work done by Friday and this has cause a bit of a crisis… please could you
help a.s.a.p.
My system is up to date with Windows SP2, antiviral updates etc. and is
connected by dedicated line to the internet.
