XP Copy To Profile Procedure

Does anyone know why the user profile Copy To process in
XP does not also copy local directory access priviliges?
I copy a "local" profile to an AD user profile on an XP
worksation. The copy works and the desktop display
settings, desktop folder structure etc..all copy over
fine. But directory access priviliges to the local folder
structure links are broken. The only work
around I have found so far is to assign "Administrator"
priviliges to the new AD profile, which gets me around the
problem. It's very harsh though to have to resort to
assigning a high level access privilige. Has anyone tried
this and experienced the same problem? If so, can someone
please assist? Thankyou.

You should, instead, make a default profile from the profile, erase
IDENTITIES and My Documents in the new Default Profile, log in as the new AD
user (with their desired priviliges) and then restore any personal files,
etc. When creating a Default User profile, be sure to change the
permissions so that "Everyone" can use it. Also, be sure, again, to get rid
of the associated identity at C:\Documents and Settings\Default
User\Application Data\Identities and My Documents folder (Usually renamed
"%USERNAME%'s Documents after the copy) and the UserData folder (usually
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\UserData).

You should not try and copy the local profile over the already created local
AD profile. If you are going to do that - use FAST instead.

Thanks for that Shenen, I'll surely give this a go. What
is FAST ? Where can I find it and what does it do
differently to the Copy To profile process? Many Thanks.
Tom.

Tom.

Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
Transfers the current users profile (settings in many applications, desktop,
etc) to a new profile (because you import that exported profile as the new
user.)
