XP, chkdsk and bad sectors

How can you get Windows XP (or Win2000 or that matter) to report if
any bad sectors have been found on a harddrive?

If you run CHKDSK /R, it will report that it has fixed a problem
(which was apparently bad sectors), but doesn't list that it was
indeed bad sectors.

The old DOS chkdsk would actually list the number of KB in bad
sectors. Is there any way of doing this in XP or 2000?

Thanks.

When you run chkdsk from within Windows, it certainly DOES tell you if you
have bad sectors. Mine says 0kb in bad sectors! If you had bad sectors you
would get a value other than zero!

Have you checked the Event Viewer?
