Xp Change back color-setting to 8bit

I've a graphic card that has worked fine sine two weeks ago, but
actually I get a strange behaviour from XP home.
Just some secs after logging in, XP changes the settings to 8bit (that
in normal case aren't allowed).
Every time I get this behaviour the problem was with the Graphic card,
so I replaced the graphic card with a similar one, reinstalled the new
driver but problems persist. The strange thing is that with both card,
going into display setting and moving to 32 bit doesn't generate any
problem. Windows is able to switch without problems the color detph and
work fine.
So this means that both cards are healthy and works fine.

The problems has started just some minutes before installing a Creative
Live IM Web Cam, but I want to underline some minutes before. So I'm
not so sure that the webcam is the problem.

What do you suggest?

Surfing on google I don't find anything useful.

Thanks

Onestly I don't know the date of the driver. I've used those one in the
cd found in the box.

But as I said I've replaced the card and problem persists. Both cards
are ATI, one is an ASUS Ati 9600 chip's based, and another is and ATI
9550.

I want to uninstall the webcam, but I'm not so sure that I'll solve the
problems. The facts is that this pc is the main one used by the chief
of the company that I'm assisting and I cannot get its pc for long time
and for a lot of tests.
I should - if possible - assemble more than one test or thing to check
per time.

Well. It sounds possible. Sony update tools started to going up with
screen message about some important updates for the pc. I don't take
care about it, but I should check for BIOS update.

If you have any other suggestion or link to check to, I'll be happy to
check them also before to go there again.

Bye
Andrea
