XP Can't See Hard Disk

Hello all,

I am trying to install XP on a IDE drive attached to a IDE Controller card.

I have a native SATA motherboard with a SATA hard drive attached. I have
second IDE drive attached to a IDE Controller card. The BIOS can see the IDE
drive and Vista can see it.

Now, when I try to install XP on the IDE drive XP cannot see the IDE drive,
but it can find the SATA drive though. I physically disabled the SATA drive
and in the BIOS I made the IDE the first boot drive. XP still cannot find
the IDE drive.

Can anyone help me because this does not make sense.

and in the BIOS I made the IDE the first boot drive. XP still cannot find
the IDE drive.

During Windows setup you have to load the Windows XP driver for the
IDE controller card. When you see the prompt in the status line at the
bottom of the screen, press F6. Then load the driver in the floppy
drive later on when prompted.

Most likely because the PCI IDE interface drivers are needed before XP can
see the hard drive.
Perform a 'Clean Install' and press the F6 key at the appropriate point (See
URL Link Below for details) and install the PCI card drivers, then continue
with the install.

Note: I would disconnect all other hard drives (your SATA drive) before you
start just to be on the safe side.
When finished with the XP install verify you can boot XP and then connect
the other drive or drives.
You will also most like need to change the boot.ini file after the other
drives are installed so you can boot both versions of Windows.

How to perform a clean install: (Take note of the section where you use the
F6 key to install the PCI card drivers).
