XP backup utility won't run

I have a Dell 2400 w/XP Home edition & have installed SP2. I recently
installed the XP backup utility file Ntbackup.msi from the Windows CD but
when I go to run backup (start, all programs, accessories, system tools,
backup) the sytem completely shuts down & I get a black screen w/white
writing stating that there has been a problem detected in Windows & Windows
needs to shut down, etc. etc. There is also the indication of Bad_pool_header
and Stop: 080000019. Don't know what that means but at that point all I can
do is turn off the power and reboot. What's wrong & what do I do?

Not caused by ntbackup. This is a hardware issue.

Stop 0xC2 or BAD_POOL_CALLER

As it was pointed out, most likely you've got a faulty device driver.
You may want to try Driver Verifier.
