Good Day All,

I bought the new Compaq presario V5000

A friend of mine was setting it up for me and he chose to install it in
Arabic instead of English

Now, i tried to recover (ie restore to facotory settings) it did, but
still in Arabic

He tried to format it, he couldnt. He tried to install the XP English
it wouldnt

Any other options to fix it instead of taking it to the service for 15
DAYS?!?!

thanx

Not sure why the computer could not be formatted or an English language copy
of XP installed. That should not have depended on it being installed in
Arabic. Here is a link for how to do a clean install. The only way to
switch languages is to do a clean install with an English language version
of XP.

I suggest - you format your computer using "fdisk" and install XP all over
again. This can be done with a help of a Windows 98 Compatible Boot disk

There is no need to use fdisk.exe or a Win98 boot disk.
It is sufficient to make the CD drive the primary boot
device, then to boot the machine with the WinXP
installation CD.

"Restore to factory settings" works in the BIOS setup only and does not
impact the Windows language resource. You need to perform a clean install
of a full English Windows XP version.
He tried to format it, he couldnt.

He tried to install the XP English it wouldnt

You cannot install an English version on top of another locale.
