Xp and Explorer Problems

I have just begun to have problems with Internet Explorer.Firstly once the
system boots up and is loaded, the dial up connection window appears and even
though i click cancel, it continues to appear almost immediately until i have
cancelled it about 8 times, then it doesnt come back.

Secondly once connected to the net, i click on the IE button to bring up the
explorer window, and it takes about 5 minutes to appear before i can surf.I
dont have this problem with email, just explorer.

This problem has been occurring for about 2 weeks.I haven't installed
anything new in the last 8 months and have exhausted every diagnostic tool i
have.

What Next????

i have tried windoctor,norton system works.They are the only tools i have.I
have tried to search microsoft but i find it a bit difficult and daunting to
use.......

Download the following programs and install. Before running them make sure
and do the updates first.

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder - http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/cwshredder.zip

BTW, and this is just my opinion, I would remove Norton System Works from
your system. It is CrapWare and before I work on any system here I advise
the customer I either remove it or they take their system somewhere else.

If you need a good AntiVirus program then I suggest AVG by Grisoft.

They have a FREE version that works well.
