Hi,
I've got a compaq notebook which loses account settings on reboot,
infact some applications won't even save settings at all (like google
desktop). Some apps such as firefox appear to remember their settings,
but from memory firefox doesn't use the registry or my xp profile to
save them, it has its own profiling system in its installation dir.
Strangely the PC came like this as OEM, and of course the only
installation I can do is one that is unable to save any settings
(tried to restore with no luck).
Additionally, I've tried resetting file permissions on my profile in c:
\Documents and Settings, I have tried creating a new user account, and
I have tried the NoSaveSettings registry value that I've seen
suggested on these newsgroups an aweful lot (with it actually helping
few).
I've also contacted compaq, who have been utterly useless with this
problem. Any suggestions on things to try?
