When going into the install process, is it normal for the
procedure to take MORE THAN AN HOUR to "find previous versions of
Windowa"?...

Also, we can TAKE OUT the CD when in that mode...that OK?

Nope - the complete install/upgrade process should take about an hour. You
have a major malfunction of some kind.
