.xnk files???

The other day I accidentally dragged an outlook folder to an email and
discovered that it created an attachment of a .xnk file. I was so excited
thinking that I could email my whole calendar so easily. So I sent it to my
home address only to find that it would not open at the other end. Does
anyone know what this file type is for and can I achieve the sharing of my
calendar in this way?

It's just a shortcut.

If you want to copy your calenda create a new pst-file and copy the calendar
folder. Then close Outlook and zip that pst-file and send it to yourself.

What if the pst is still unable to be read? Is it a permission issue?

Whats the work aruond if I cant open the file still?

Possibly, but you don't state the text of any error messages. If it's a
permissions problem, the error message will be quite clear that it is. If
it's a compatibility problem, that should be clear as well. If it's a more
general "not a PST file", then whatever process you used to copy the PST
corrupted it so that Outlook can't tell it's a PST.
