xls to dBaseIII issue

I have to convert an excel file to dBaseIII for a mail list program. When I
choose save as dBaseIII it saves ok but I have two problems.

main problem is I have one column with a 2 character width with numbers. I
have to be able to format the numbers as....12 , 34, 06, 09...etc. But I
can not get the dbf file to save the 0x numbers...it reverts back to a
single digit _6 ?

Can I set the dbf file to save and hold numbers with 0 as the first digit
for two digit numbers ?

Also..every time I try to add to the dbf file...the screen show the
additional records but when I save and reopen...the added records are gone.

Any help with the above is greatly appreciated...especially the first
problem with the numbers and using 06 to format with.

Thanks, Tim

dbase allways store numeric as pure value, while preceding "0" is part of
*formating*.
to have what you want, save digits as *text*.
to do that in excel, before entering values, format cells as "text", and
enter "05", "06" ...

what do you mean "add to dbf"?
there is no adding records when working with excel, the complete worksheet
[in fact dbf file] is every time rewritten.
