XL2007: Conditional format repeated 100 times???

In one .xlsm file, I have a column where the displayed value depends
on a COUNTIF formula, the fill color depends on a formula-driven
conditional formatting, and the font color depends on three separate
formula-driven conditional formats.

With the cell on top of the column selected (B21), I open Conditional
Formatting >> Manage Rules, and I see all three IF conditionals for
the font color, and the OR conditional for the fill color - and the OR
conditonal is shown twice. The Applies To range is the whole column
(B21-B82).

When I select the last cell in the column (B82), I see the one OR and
three IF conditionals - and the group of four is repeated about 100
times!! The Applies To range is only the selected cell. Will this
cause me problems? Or is it just a glitch in the file that's not to
worry about?

When I enter data in one cell of a new blank row, a macro copies all
the formulas, fill and font colors, and conditional formats from
selected cells in the row above down into the new row. Is this
causing the multiple conditions?

It certainly sounds as if you've doubled-up (or hundreded-up) your
conditional formats. I played with this a bit and was able to get 3 sets of
virtually the same rules in one cell. What varied was the "Formula" and
"Applies to" parts of the "Rules Manager". I don't know if this will have
any practical ramifications but to eliminate this apparent rule bloat I'd
guess you would want to extend the "Applies to" range to new cells rather
than copy the rules down.
