X1900GT and default GPU frequency

Hi,

I just bought a sapphire X1900GT this morning, installed together with
catalyst 6.4 downloaded from ati site. I was very surprised that the gpu
frequency is set by default at 500MHz as shown by catalyst control center
and by other softwares like 3dmark2006 or atitool. On ATI website, it is
specified that the default gpu frequency should be 575MHz. So, what is going
wrong with my configuration ? Is it a catalyst 6.4 issue ? The memory
default is OK (600MHz).

in the 2d environment the card will be underclocked/volted.

Yeah I wondered this too when I purchased my 1900XT - even when I put
the card under load the card it didnt show any change.
In fact the only time I was satisfied that the card is 625Mhz (well
actually 620 for some reason?) is when I used PowerStrip and refreshed
the card details WHILST I had alt-tab'd out of a game! (all other times
it says 500Mhz)
The Catalyst control center said that it was still 500Mhz when
PowerStrip was saying 625Mhz.
