X1650Pro's in crossfire

Hi ppl, It's come time for me to update my terrible 256Mb 7300GS Noobvidia
card, and would really appreciate a little info from anyone who is running a
pair of 256Mb DDR3 X1650Pro's in crossfire,
as I can stretch my tight little budget a little to afford either 2 of
these, or I can get an older model 256Mb DDR2 X1900XT for slightly more.

Would having the 2 X1650's be better, or should i just get the single
X1900XT?

I've also heard that the DDR3 on the 1650's would be better to overclock
than the DDR2 of the 1900, is that true?

I've read some reviews on the X1650's that say it's a poor performer and
that the similar priced Nvidia card is much better, but after going from a
great ATI card down to the Nvidia card I have now, I think i'll stick with
ATI.

Thanks

If you can stretch to the X1900xt, try and get hold of the X1950pro.
Its cheaper than the 1900XT, and either outperforms a 7900gs, or is
very,very close to it.
Its apparently a LOT better than an 1900XT.
If you have an AGP board you can also get it in an AGP model.

The x1650 pro is not a "poor" performer in the least, and blows away a
7600gs that it competes with in real world gaming. the information at
websites like "toms hardware" and what not is erroneous when it come to
there so-called "bench's" and "Vs" i have seen what these cards can do
first hand, and even the xt version thats supposed to compete directly
with the 7600gt out performs it by quite a margin also in real world
function and gaming. a friend of mine purchased a 7600gs/256mb and when
he seen the performance he was getting in nfs carbon (by not being able
to max everything out even at 1024x768) returned the card for the
x1650pro and has had no problem maxing out his graphics in carbon and
getting fluid gaming (thats first hand by me and him) another friend of
ours was impressed enough to try out the x1650xt to replace his aging
6600gt and has equaly been as happy. and under some conditions
(performance wise) theres almost just a neglibable difference (say
around 10%) between the two cards themselves pro and xt. well if i
hadnt come into so much contact recently with these two cards, i would
have never even responded to this post. just a coincidence, and this
also for middle of the road gaming, not low but not high end either.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll pick a couple of them tonight and see
how they go.

Let us know how they do Strut.

I bought 2 ATI X1650Pro's with 512mb in PciE format for the
computer I'm building and am interested in your experence with the
cards in CrossFire mode.
Any info on setup would be helpful as well.

I just need the CPU and MB to finish but that will take me a while to
get the money together.

My advice is going for a single more powerfull card. Also note that
there are some quite slow X1650Pro-boards -- some user much cheaper
memory (DDR2 on around 750-800 MHz, while others use DDR2 on 1,3-1,4
GHz - makes a HUGE difference). These boards using DDR2 are much
cheaper than other X1650 Pro-boards.

But, instead, go for a single board -- overall the performance will be
better, less noise, less problems, more options for motherboards. The
X1950Pro will be better and cheaper than two X1650Pro's. At least here
in Norway it seems like a X1950XT will be about the same price as a
two "ok" X1650Pro-boards.

I know this is a bit late, but I have a x1650XT sapphire (the 24 pipe
256MB GGR3 one) and for the fact that its about 20~30 quid more than the
pro its almost twice the card (2x pipes and mem speed) a friend that has
gamed on my box (I dont really play games) said it was almost the same as
his x1900 something (he has a faster CPU but mine is dual core).
