x-y-z surface charts

Is it possible to use Excel (2002) to plot an X-Y-Z
surface chart?

When I tried this, the X-Z plotted correctly, however,
the Y-Z plotted as linear series.

My X and Y data are non-linear (ie. the data points are
not spread consistently) This means that when I plot the
chart, my data is stretched to fit!

Example of my data axis:

Y/X 0 1 2 4 6 8 10 20 30 40
0.1
0.2
0.3
0.5 Lots of Z data in here
1
2
3
5
10

Therefore, I need to have lots of data points in one
corner of the surface chart, and all other data points
spread out. This is not happening!

In a 3D surface chart, both X and Y are 'category' values, i.e., points
are equally spaced.
