x y temperature chart

I am attempting to build an x y temperature chart in powerpoint 2003 and I am
not getting anywhere. Has anyone else tried to do something like this?
 
Double-click the chart on the slide to activate it, then right-click the
chart and choose Chart Type. Select the scatter plot.

Does that do the trick? If not, you'll need to give us more info on what the
problem is.
