Hi all,
my PC is a Compaq laptop P4/2.4GH/256MB - RAM/40GB HD - WindowsXP SP2
home.
When I open Word and Internet (just 1 site), it becomes impossible to work
with it as the CPU catches up 100% and it systematically jams.
That happens after having executed a BIOS upgrade with two files, from HP
web site, needed (according to the HP Help Desk) for problem with external
mouse.
After this upgrade actually, my external mouse does not give problems any
more but it has become impossible to work with the PC (without the external
mouse too).
I work with my laptop just in local, I have only a few very common programs
installed (Office 2000, Acrobat).
I have already formatted and reinstalled everything but no improvement at
all.

Would you please help me?

Thank you

Cheers!

Enrico

Hi, Enrico. If you have already formatted and reinstalled, then you
really can trace the problem back to the BIOS upgrade, as opposed to
malware infection. I would contact Compaq tech support about the issue
and the possibility of downgrading the BIOS to a previous version.

Good luck,

Malke
