WXP shuts down and safe mode not available

Attempting to assist parents. XP home shuts down during
start up as services finish loading. Was able to get in
safe mode - did virus scan with up to date data files.
Not the answer. On restart, unable to get a response from
F8 - no safe mode available. Reimage likely, but wish to
salvage family photos in private area on HD. Is slaving
the HD possible for recovery? thx.

Probably your best bet. Just put it in a working computer and copy the files
you need.
