wsock32.dll missing

I just purchased a new computer and am trying to install a
quickbooks program on the new computer. I keep getting an
error message that says wsock32.dll file is missing. It
will not let me complete the install without this file. I
found instructions on the Microsoft web site that gives
instructions on how to restore the wsock32.dll file for
windows 98, but will this work on Windows XP?

You might want to check to see whether wsock32.dll is on your system.
It should be in windows\system32. If needed, you can create a new copy
from wsock32.dl_ (in windows\I386 in my system) via RUN msconfig\
general tab \ expand file.

However, are you sure that your quickbooks program is designated for
XP?
