Just recentlymy whole comp crashed, and not knowing much about it, I let a
friend of a friend look at it. I had xp home on before, now I have an illegal
xp professional, and a different format, not fat32. I don't have a disc copy
of xp home to re-load. Is there any way I can get back to where I was before
the new progs were installed.? Thanks all.

The only way forward for you is to buy a version of XP Home, frisk and
reformat your computer, and start over..

I guessed as much, but hope springs eternal as they say. thanks anyway. Just
one thing, I have a reload disk, but can't get it to open at all, either on
my comp or my sons. Any idea why?

Contact the manufacturer re the reload disc as there is more than one way of
installing from a recovery CD.. it is possible that your friend has erased
any partition that may have been useful in restoring your computer to
factory settings.. only time will tell..

I would strongly recommend that you do not allow your friend to do anything
else to your computer..

Thanks for all your help Mike...You can be certain, no-one is giong to be
doing me any more favours. I've learned my lesson.
