Wrong number entry over 16 digits

J

Joel

I have found a bug in Microsoft excel 2002, tried on
different computers - the same phenomenon exists.

When entering a number with over 16 digits, the 16th
digit and on all are truncated to a zero. (nullified)
It's not just a problem of displaying the data - the
number is actually stored with the wrong digits!!

Is this a known phenomenon?
in my applications - this is a very serious bug, causing
loss of income etc..

Appreciate your comments,

Joel
