I've got a lab of 20 Dells running Win2K on a NOvell
network. Every one of them shows the wrong icon for html
documents. Instead of the IE icon they show a generic
Windows page icon. I've checked the file typs, it's fine.
I've even gone into the proper dll to see that it's
pointing to the correct icon and it is. Yet it STILL shows
up as a generic icon.

Any ideas?

Worth a try...
1-- download a copy of the free ActivIcons utility from
http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_aifw.html

2-- in ActivIcons, go to its "Desktop Controls" screen and increase
the icon cache size to 2048 or 4096, and then

3-- rebuild the icon cache. The options for rebuilding the cache are
on 2 small round buttons at the lower/right corner. Shut down any
programs running in the background, then click the round button
farthest to the lower/right corner (your system will reboot, and the
icon cache will be cleaned out).

This has always worked for generic, substituted and black icons on my
systems.
