Writing to CD

Despite having used the same method without problems on previous occasions I
now get a message when attempting to copy images or word documents to CD.
My method has always been to open the window for the CDRW drive and simply
click and drag the required files into the frame.
This then displays the usual 'you have files to be copied' etc and in the
past completing the process has always worked without problem.
However when I attempt to do this now, after a minute or so I get an error
message stating 'Cannot complete the CD writing wizard - there was an error
in the writing process'.
The same error occors if I attempt the alternative of right clicking on the
file and sending to CDRW.
As the above message gives no further clues as to the problem and its a
method I know has worked previously I would appreciate any help on what the
sudden problem might be.
At this stage I have not tried burning the files to CD using Nero etc but
would rarther be using the above method anyway.

Hi,

I would suggest trying a Restore Point. Sounds like you have a corrupted
apps file. Then I would suggest installing decent burning software - I
recommend Nero/InCD from Ahead Nero.

Good luck.

try taking a look inside the temp folder that holds the stuff to be
written:

\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

this is a hidden folder, you'll need to enable "seeing" those:

tools | folder options | view | "show hidden files and folders"

if this folder is messed up it can cause the stated error. try deleting
everything in there and starting again (these are COPIES of your files,
it's ok to delete them; just move them out to a temp folder on the desktop
if you're paranoid).

Also, check inside Help and SUpport, there are trouble shooter in there
for CD Writting, plus other good-to-know stuff.
