Can anyone suggest a way to serialize a class to a file using the
CompactFramework?

So I assume there is no 'official' Microsoft implementation?

Not that I'm aware of.

Maybe someone here knows if there will be an implementation in the next CF
release?

Yes .NETCF v2.0 will include XML Serialization.
