writing files on the SD card

just to add one thing to Pete's answer, Storage Card is the name of the
drive on just about every device I've used other than the Dell Axim, which
was SD Card.

If you don't use Dell's, you'd probably never come across this...

ALWAYS use the proper APIs to get the storage card name, on a chinese system
it'd be... in chinese, german... in german
IF we had a ROM in Malay the filename would be "\kad simpanan\log.txt"

Card' ,

I think so too: in Symbol PT2800 series I have "NETWORK", "Application" and
another one that I don't remember.

On Toshiba I have "Card FlashROM" or something similar.
