write robot.txt file in FrontPage 2003.

You create it in Notepad and then place it in the "root" or main folder of your web site.
Save it as robots.txt
The "root" folder is where your home page lives.

That's all there is to it.

You're thinking of the robots meta tag, not the robots.txt file.

How do I write and position a robot.txt file in FrontPage 2003? My url is
www.custom-tiles.com.

You write the file in notepad (see mine http://accessfp.net/robots.txt ) and
save it .... (You can save it into your web site on your hd if you know the
path but if your not sure

import it into your site.

First open the web you want to have the file displayed in.

Goto File | Import | and the 'Import' Dialog box will appear click the 'Add
File' Button and the 'Add File to Import List' Dialog box will pop up..
just browse to your file

(i.e. the place you saved your file)

through the 'Lookin' drop down menu (click on little black arrow to open)
Click the folder your file is in and a list of the files will pop up in the
pane below..

(if your file does not show up make sure where it says 'Files of type' that
'All Files' is selected from the drop down menu.)

Select the file and press Open

The 'Add File to Import List' Dialog box will close and your back to the
'Import' Dialog box.. .the file you selected will be highlighted.

next press ok

Recalcuate hyperlinks under Tools and your set to publish to the server.

....adding to Tina's info: the robots.txt file must be placed in the root
web..not a subweb.
