Write protection on flash drive

Was working fine then tried to delete some files "write -protected" i can
open the files no prob, the read only box is not ticked and according to the
troubleshooter its working properly and i already tried updating the driver.
What else can I do?

What kind of flash drive is it? Some of them can have physical write
protect switches on the drive itself, like Secure Digital cards. If the
write protect switch is thrown, the drive itself will prevent attempts
to delete the files. I strongly suspect you can't change them, either.

There isnt a switch on it, tried copying the files and then formeting the
thing but it wont accept that either. I suppose its off to get another mem
stick.
 
My memory stick came with file protection installed. Give the stick's
website a look for the protection software. SanDisk has such software.
