Wrap Text in a text box created from the control toolbar

I created a text box using the control toolbox.
PROBLEM: I can not get the text to wordwrap.
I clicked on "properties" and wordwrap says "true"
but it still does not wrap.
I also clicked on "format control" but the tab for "textbox" is greyed out.
Any suggestions?

But why is it that even now when I click on "format control" the tab for
"textbox" is greyed out?
