During a recent battle with spyware the file WOWEXEC.EXE
was accidentally deleted. I have tried everything to get
it back. System restore..recovery to no avail. Any
suggestions? I have Windows XP

Hi:
If you used ad-aware or spybot to remove the spyware what
you deleted should be in a backup folder in the program?
And can be restored from that program.

.unfortunately it was deleted from the register and has gone to register heaven.
 
WOWEXEC (Windows on Windows executable) is part of the
WIN16 subsystem. Removal of WOWEXEC can cause MS-DOS and
WIN16 to cease functioning.
You can use EXPAND from your Windows XP Setup disc to
restore the file:
Start > Run... > "CMD" [ENTER]
d: [ENTER] (assuming D: is the CD-ROM drive with the
Windows XP disc)
cd i386 [ENTER]
expand wowexec.ex_ c:\windows\system32\wowexec.exe [ENTER]

This will restore the file WOWEXEC.EXE (The procedure can
be used for any system file that is missing)

I am trying toi install Adobe Phot delux program and I get a message
Application Erro
WOWEXEC has caused aGeneral Protection Fault in module MMSYSTEM.DLL at000A:003
Any suggestions as to fix this or as to what is going on?
I have WIndows XP home
