I have been trying unsuccessfully for two days to download
the file from the Microsoft site to secure my system. I
am using Windows 2000 Professional and according to the
options, there is only Windows 2000. When I attempt to
download that file, I get an error that I am unauthorized
to use that site. Is that because my 2000 version
is "Professional"? If so, I have two questions.
1. Is my computer vulnerable? According to the virus
scan I ran from Symantec it said it was.
2. Where do I get a "fix" for my system. If it is in
fact the link that Symantec provided to Microsoft's
website, where on the wesite do I go?
I appreciate any support you can provide.

If you use the "Windows Update" feature built into
Internet Explorer, you should be able to get it that way.

try download.com i know they have the win2000 update if you are having
difficulty on the microsoft www....

SP3 is the minimum requirement for the 823980 hotfix.

The Windows Update site is blocked off. I suspect it has something to do
with the newest worm.

Works fine and there are two critical updates there now.
