Workstation Service Won't Start

Hello,

I've been trying to uninstall Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 9. It has
set the ccEvtMgr (a Symantec service) as a dependency for the Workstation
Service. If I uninstall the Workstation service will not start because it
needs the Symantec Event Manager service. Has anybody seen a remedy for
this?

Or, does anybody have a way to change the registry to change the dependency
of a service? For now, I have Symantec installed but turned off, and I'm
running avast.

TIA,

Steve

Steve,

Start Regedit.exe and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanworkstation

In the right-pane, delete the following values:

* DependOnService
* DependOnGroup

Restart Windows.
